UK Maintenance

Recent maintenance (November 2009) includes a new stainless steel main exhaust line, stainless steel heat exchangers, chain housing seals and gaskets, turbo seals, oil feed hose and drive shaft boot.

The annual 2009 service included an oil change (as always Castrol Edge/RS 10w60), oil filter, Bosch sparkplugs, brake fluid change, and a brake upgrade with new Ferodo DS2500 brake pads fitted.

With a major service in Switzerland in 2007 including the valve guides checked, just few routine minor jobs were required in 2008. An oil change (Castrol Edge/RS 10w60), a gearbox oil change with the highly recommended and LSD compatible Swepco 201, and a new fuel filter was added.

With the car jacked up for winter on axle stands in 2008, the rear of the B-Posts were re-protected. The original coating was wire brushed from the important bolts/plates, there was no sign of corrosion with the surrounding original sealant remarkably sound. The bolts and plates were then given 3 generous coats of POR 15 sealant on both the n/s and o/s.

Maintenance in 2007 included replacement of the rear parking brake pads, replacement of the fan belt and the rear tyres were also replaced with a new set of Yoko AVS sports 245′s at 110,500km.

Previous Maintenance

The car does not come with moutains of paperwork of the service history but the care of the car can be verified with the previous owner. The service book is well stamped but there isn’t a stamp for each year as the car spent a lot of time in storage (it had been stored in a Barn in Sion Switzerland for 2 years when I bought it). However there is additional paperwork to prove that the service book wasn’t always stamped when work was done.

As mentioned all the major service work on the car was been done by 935 mechanic/owner/racer Alain Pfefferlé. The pics below show how the car was cared for with GeorgeK performing some routine maintenance. Notable maintenance under GeorgeK includes a new stock exhaust, disks and pads (ferrodos), recent shocks, rear torsion bars, annual brake fluid, all its life on Castrol RS 10W-60 changed each year or 3k miles, with Yoko AVS sports 205 and 245 keeping it on the road.
